Everyone that is born is given a Luna Glyph. This glyph lets people use magic and gives them special abilities. their power depends on the phase of the moon that they were born on. Those in power are called Aristos and are the most powerful. Those born on a New Moon are born without a Luna Glyph and are unable to use magic. They are called "Unblessed" are look down upon. They are treated worse then slaves and are not under the protection of the Aristos. The moon is chained to the world by the Order of Chains. The leader of the Order of Chains is called " The Dreadknight" and is the most pwerful being. There is a group of rebels out there that are called the Liberation Force. The leader of the group is a man called Sigmund the Liberator. He is the only one capable of destroying the chains and freeing the moon.
You start out as Capell the Soother, a flute player that is arrested and sent to prison. The next thing you know is that there is a women sneaking in the prison to help you escape. There is just one thing. She thinks that you are her leader, Sigmund. After you tell her that she is wrong you too are chased by a giant Troll and must escape, you are not strong enough to defeat the troll yet. After you escape you meet up with the rest of her party and find out that Sigmund DOES look like you. And the resemblance is not a mere coincidence. Everyone in the pary are confused why you two look alike and ask you questions. After a few side missions you are Forced into the Force and help Sigmund destroy chains, and free the world.
This game is a real time RPG. This means that you do not walk around the map and wait to be attacked. Like in the older Final Fantasy games or any of the Pokemon games for the Gameboy. You see the enimies while you walk around and attack them when you see them. But it is an RPG which means that you get 10+ people in your group. However you can only use 3 of them (4 including Capell, whom you have to use.) The people include the following:

Sigmund the Liberator: Warrior Class, Universal
Eugene: Priest Class- Earth Style Magic, Blacksmith
Aya: Archer Class, Cook-Princess
Michelle: Alchemist Class, Lighting Style Magic
Rico: Beastmaster Class, Writer, Twin
Rucha: Summoner Class, Cook, Twin to Rico
Balbagan: Berserker Class, Drunk, HUGE
Savio: Aristo, Clairvoyant, Writer
Edward: Warrior Class, Blacksmith
These are just a few of the people you come across. There are a lot more.
